Placo (Pty) Ltd was established in 1937 at Wonderboom Airport as Pretoria Light Aircraft Company. Since then it has grown over the years to be a major player in the local aviation industry. During 2013 NAC acquired a 100% shareholding in Placo and appointed Chris Boshoff as its General Manager to run the company for them.
Any company that has successfully operated in the aviation industry for so long knows that you have to adapt and improve with the times. It was during the beginning of 2016 that negotiations started to sell Placo (Pty) Ltd to Chris Boshoff and as of 1 April 2016, he became the sole owner and CEO of the company. It is the new CEO’s vision for Placo to become one of the most successful aviation organizations on the African continent and Chris Boshoff will ensure that Placo achieves those goals.
During the many years Placo has established a solid Service Centre, catering for various aircraft types ranging from Piper, Cessna and Beechcraft type aircraft, and Placo built a very successful parts business. Furthermore, being based at Rand Airport, home to many of South Africa’s top aerobatic teams, Placo services and maintains a variety of aerobatic aircraft.
There is no doubt that in almost 80-odd years in business, Placo has built a depth and breadth of aviation expertise, underpinned by reliability, maintainability, endurance and state-of-the-art technology. Placo will use this expertise to focus on the aircraft sales market within Africa. Building upon a trustworthy, dependable network ensures that Placo’s customers are provided with the best, advice and guidance on how, what and when to purchase or sell their aircraft.
Placo’s Head-office is stationed at Rand Airport with maintenance, aircraft parts sales and aircraft sales all being part of some of the services which Placo offers.
